The countdown to this year’s AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run is on, and time is running out if you want to be part of the amazing running party in Birmingham this Sunday.
Places in the Junior and Mini runs have now sold out, but you can still be among the 12,000 who have signed up for the half marathon and 10k events until 10am on Friday 5 May. You’ll then need to collect your run number from the information point during the weekend of the Great Birmingham Run. Click here to sign up.
The information point is located in Centenary Square and open from: Saturday 6 May: 10am to 4pm and Sunday 7 May: from 07.30am.
Runners from across the Midlands take to the city streets every year to challenge themselves and raise cash for charity or personal goal, and this year, runners will take on an exciting new route, passing an estimated 20,000 spectators.
Starting on Broad Street at Centenary Square, runners for both the 10k and half marathon distances will head for the city’s world-famous Jewellery Quarter, passing the Chamberlain Clock at Warstone Lane and Vyse Street, beautiful St Paul’s Square and a city-centre route that features the Mailbox, Grand Central at New Street station, St Martin’s Church, Southside and Digbeth.
Half-marathon participants will follow the same iconic landmarks before heading out of the city centre along Pershore Road, reaching Selly Park at eight miles and a return route that takes in glorious Cannon Hill Park and Edgbaston Stadium.
Both distances enjoy a grandstand finish at the Smithfield site near Bullring; home to Commonwealth Games beach volleyball and basketball.
