Local artists are being invited to get involved with a new community project ‘Street Stories Wolverhampton’, launching in April 2024.
Enjoy Wolverhampton BID are working on a new vacant units community project called ’Street Stories’.
The concept has been designed to improve the appearance of empty shops with large-scale artwork installations across the city centre. To further enhance these pieces of art, there will be an interactive Augmented Reality (AR) twist and each piece of art will be brought to life as an immersive multi-sensory experience which will be triggered by a free downloadable smartphone app.
Organisers are looking for a mix of art styles and media exploring a variety of themes, including:
Wolverhampton’s Strong Local History
The Environment
Wolverhampton’s Identity / Diversity and Community
Famous faces / stories
Human rights
Charities
Culture & society
Science & technology
Education
Crime
Arts & heritage
Film, theatre & television
There is a £200 fee available for all successful artists, with their work featured prominently in the city centre, along with an artist’s profile, website details and social media handles.
All artwork submissions and project enquiries must be sent to info@wolverhamptonbid.co.uk by midnight on the 8 November 2023. Include your piece/s of artwork and a short explanation of how it could work to showcase a local story.
You can also check out other Street Stories trails from across the country at street-stories.co.uk.
