Giant creatures, teeny tiny insects, a talking mollusc and a cat (in boots) are all heading to Warwick Arts Centre this half term.
Dinosaur World Live (Sat 25-Sun 26 Feb 2023) is a roar-some interactive family adventure that uses inventive puppetry to bring a host of giant prehistoric creatures to life. Join Miranda, the daughter of two palaeontologists, raised on a distant island surrounded by dinosaurs, as she introduces a Triceratops, Giraffatitan, Microraptor, Segnosaurus and, of course, the fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex.
For younger visitors My First Concert: Stomp And Sing (Thu 23 Feb 2023) is a relaxed and interactive concert for ages 0-7 years (and their grown-ups), and sees professional musicians share their passion for classical music.
There are also two Family Sundays (Sun19 and 26 Feb 2023) within Spring Half-Term, each featuring free creative artist-led activities for families. Running 1.30pm-4pm, these regular drop-in activities are all about making, exploring and having fun as a family, with Sunday 26 February preceded by a monthly Family Singing session (11.30am-12.30pm) - a free drop-in hour of singing, moving and dancing that's open to all ages.
Meanwhile, Warwick Arts Centre's comfortable cinema screens welcome three exciting movies, perfect for film fans. Officially kick-starting 'phase five' of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is superhero blockbuster Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (12A tbc - Fri17 Feb-Thu 2 Mar 2023). Paul Rudd returns as the shrinking hero with Evangeline Lilly as Wasp. Together, they delve into the strange Quantum Realm and face the villainous Kang.
Continuing the ‘small’ theme, Marcel The Shell With Shoes On (PG - Fri 17-Wed 22 Feb 2023) is a heart-warming feature based on the series of cult stop-motion shorts that have wowed the internet. When a documentary film-maker moves into a new house, he discovers the adorable Marcel - a one inch tall shell who ekes out a colourful existence with his grandmother, Connie, and their pet lint, Alan.
Spinning off from the monstrous Shrek film series, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish (PG - Fri 17-Thu 23 Feb 2023) sees the swashbuckling Puss (voiced by Antonio Banderas) discover he's used up eight of his nine lives. But could the mythical Wishing Star give him his lost lives back? Both Puss In Boots: The Last Wish and Marcel The Shell With Shoes On have been nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the Academy Awards 2023.
