Chords Crush Cancer founder Mark Fielden is launching his debut book, in memory of his late mother, and is organising a fundraiser event in Shrewsbury on 3 February.

Mark is hoping to build on his already impressive fundraising total of over £20,000, which has so far been raised for cancer charity Lingen Davies over the years.

"Since 2016 I’ve hosted Chords Crush Cancer, a musical fundraiser in aid of a Shropshire cancer charity Lingen Davies who looked after my mother before she passed away via breast cancer. I won the prestigious Errol Williams award from the charity in 2020 and after our last event in Feb 2023 saw us go past £19,000 raised, I won the Community Ambassador award for 2022/2023 in July last year.

"I have also just finished writing a book called Memories of Margaret about my fundraising journey in memory of mum which was published last week and has already gained some strong 5 star reviews.

"To coincide with the book launch, my 8th event, which takes place on 3 February at the Inn on the Green in Shrewsbury, will see us go past £20,000 raised in Mum’s memory."

The event features three live bands, a caricaturist, a magician, a raffle with 50 prizes and an auction. Prizes include: an original painting of the artwork that is on the Market Hall building, donated by Disney the 'Birmingham Banksy’, a Liverpool 2023/24 home shirt signed by Darwin Nunez and a Shrewsbury Town 2023/24 home shirt signed by captain Chey Dunkley with his image hand painted on to it.

Local artist Luke Crump has also designed this year's t-shirts.
