The Rep announces two heart-warming and magical Christmas shows for its 2024/25 main House season.
A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story, Mark Gatiss’s supernatural stage adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ classic, will excite, surprise and astound audiences.
Nottingham Playhouse’s superb re-telling of the classic Christmas tale of redemption visits the theatre on Thursday 14 November - Sunday 5 January 2025.
From Thursday 9 - Sunday 12 January, the theatre welcomes home The Rep’s production of The Snowman, based on the book by Raymond Briggs and the film directed by Dianne Jackson and produced by John Coates.
A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story is the acclaimed retelling of Dickens' winter story filled with Dickensian, spine-tingling special effects. It premiered at Nottingham Playhouse, directed by Artistic Director Adam Penford, in November 2021 to rave reviews before transferring to Alexandra Palace, and has since returned to Nottingham and played to packed houses at Alexandra Palace in 2023.
The original 2021 production was also filmed and screened in 500 cinemas across 12 territories and broadcast on BBC4 in 2022. Prepare to be astounded and delighted in equal measure as you enter its supernatural world.
It's a cold Christmas Eve and mean-spirited miser Ebenezer Scrooge has an unexpected visit from the spirit of his former business partner Jacob Marley. Bound in chains as punishment for a lifetime of greed, the unearthly figure explains it isn't too late for Scrooge to change his miserly ways in order to escape the same fate, but first he'll have to face three more eerie encounters…

This enchanting live show has thrilled audiences around the world since first appearing on The Rep’s stage in 1993, directed by The Rep’s former artistic director Bill Alexander.
When a young boy’s snowman comes to life on Christmas Eve, the two set off on a night-time quest for adventure. They meet Father Christmas, dancing penguins, reindeer and crowds of The Snowman’s friends, but will they escape evil Jack Frost and get back home for Christmas morning.
