As a commission for Birmingham 2022 Festival, local theatre company Stan’s Cafe are making not one, not two, but 11 versions of their brand-new show, Precious Emily. 

Telling a story about ‘lifting up heavy things’, the production has been inspired by legendary weightlifter Precious Mackenzie and Midlands-born Olympian Emily Campbell (who will be lifting for gold at Birmingham’s NEC on Wednesday 3 August).

The show is being produced by Stan’s Cafe in collaboration with 10 partner schools. Each school will give a public performance of their very own version of Precious Emily. 

Stan’s Cafe will then take a scene from every production and combine them in a gala performance at MAC Birmingham on Thursday 14 July.
